Korn Architects was founded in Germany 1995 in Frankfurt a.M. with a focus on high-profile design by Axel Korn, following 3 years of practice with Frank O. Gehry Inc. / California as architect for the new Philharmonic Concert Hall in Los Angeles and other projects. Since 1996 the main branch operates in Berlin / Germany with projects mainly in northern Germany and the Netherlands. Due to close working relationship with MAB Groep B.V., the design focus shifted to shopping centers and inner city redevelopment projects. Since 2000 the office is active in the south-east Asian region due to the rapid development of new urban centers and a high demand for design to international standards.
With our key architects having been involved in high-end projects worldwide such as the famous Los Angeles Philharmonic Concert Hall, Leiden inner-city redevelopment or San Francisco Russian Hills Condominiums we build up an architectural expertise that allows us to offer design solutions that satisfy all expectations.
Philosophy of architectural place-making: We understand our profession as the creative interpretation of loci - of physical and cultural environment, the available resources and intended use. No building can be the same in a different place - we offer unique solutions which not only thrive for efficiency and flexibility but will enrich the cultural and ecological framework of the context. The making of architecture is the creation of a poetic shelter. (Noumenon)
